The importance of facts and how real are your facts will only determine the integrity of information you hold responsible is true or not. Any information that is changed from it’s original source is not considered anymore true because you never know to what extend has this piece of data changed or how much it has changed compared from it’s original source. Once you have decided to modify data to meet your criteria that’s when you have start to actually manipulate data.
Keeping Data in it’s original format or the way it was been created will be the best practice to keep up your information integrity. We almost try to change the data from the way it’s been created only because to meet your needs but at the same time we should also practice to put back the information in it’s original place or format so that the people who try to discover information will know the facts about data and it’s origin. In Data discovery integrity of information is the epitome of fact discovery else it is just a new version with a new owner. Today a lot of time is invested for data mining but it is also important that we mine information from it’s original source.
